The Cartouche is a symbol from ancient Egypt. It is used as an amulet or talisman, and was one of the pieces of jewellery found in the tomb of Tutankhamen. It contains hieroglyphs which present ‘that which circles the Earth’. It was used for protection and serving as a link between the Earth and other planes/planets. The shape is formed via ‘smithing’ or lapidary from gold, silver, platinum and non metallic minerals.
